Black Love Virtual Concert is deemed the best and the most talked about virtual concert in 2020. Sarkodie’s maiden edition of a virtual concert was streamed on the Ceek.com on August 16th 2020.

Sarkodie’s nomination is not surprising at all because people can’t stop talking about how unique and amazing the virtual concert looked.

Despite it being held virtually, without the presence of audience due to restrains the deadly Coronavirus pandemic imposed on our social lives, fans and music lovers massively enjoyed themselves as well as feeling interactive from the comforts of their homes.

International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) is organised annually. 2021 marks the 39th edition.

IRAWMA was founded in 1982 to celebrate and honour the achievements and influence of reggae and professionals such as songwriters, performers, promoters and singers.

As part of the celebration, a variety of musicians and entertainers around the world are set to perform. People around the world are also expected to cheer nominees and Winners for the various music genres.

Public voting which began on Monday, March 20 continues through to Tuesday, April 20 at 12 O’clock midnight.

The Black Love Virtual Concert has been one of the most talked about event and finally we all got to enjoy the most unique and historic Virtual Concert.

Sarknation what a show, bravo! Despite what happened at start of the show, attributable to the overwhelming number of fans trying to log in at the same time, the show eventually took off on both Ceek Facebook  and Ceek website

The show started by the viewers being given a glimpse of the beauty of Accra, Ghana, gave lots of fans the chance to watch their favourite artists perform their favourite  hits.

Even before the show began, over 80 thousand people waited patiently.  More than twice the capacity of the o2 arena in the UK

The show was streamed on ceek.com an online streaming and VR platform

At the beginning of the show, Sarkodie could be seen rapping at the top of the Independence Square.

Coincidentally, Independence Square is a monument erected to symbolise Ghana’s freedom.

The square had a complete makeover transformation with color gradients complimenting each other at every light meet and lighting up the square.

Sarkodie opened with one his 2020 release featuring rapper M.anifest ‘Brown Paper Bag’ 

After, he  performed some of his iconic hit songs revenge of the Spartans, greatness, who da man etc

The performance was backed by a live band with back to back hits from over the years including songs from his Mary Album.

Hitting us nostalgia, he performed his hit song Adonai backed up by back up singers.

The  surprise artist was Shatta Wale, Shatta Wale who is featured  in Beyoncé   ‘Already’  Black is King Album.

With a surprise performance from shatta wale, the duo performed their 2016 hit song collaboration, Megye wo Girl, the two artists shook the stage with an intriguing mind-blowing performance.

 

 Yaw Sarpgong blessing fans with classics from the 90s was also amazing!

Sarkodie’s former signee Akwaboah was also been invited to rock the stage with his creative music vibe for fans at the virtual concert.

Noted for his extraordinary style in the Ghanaian highlife music genre, the artiste gave his fans a joyous moment through the concert.

Sista Afia is barely five years in the Ghanaian music industry since her return from the UK to Ghana. She is noted for her charming and top-notch vocals.

The rap king featured her on the black love album on the song, “Broken Heart” in which they gave a breathtaking performance at the black love concert.

“The Blue” album which served us with the well-received single, “Say Cheese”, Kidi will shared the stage with King Sark to perform the song “Hello” featured on the black love album.

Legend Amakye Dede was part of this exclusive concert. He performed alongside Sarkodie. Another artist who performed with the Rap God is member of buk bak Prince Bright.

 

We can’t end without  addressing the elephant in the room 😊 .   Stonebwoy couldn’t  perform as planned due to some confrontations between him and Sarkodie’s Manager. 

Sadly, Angelo  was hurt in one eye.

The show was a success, a historic one in which no African artist has done before!

A week ago, Ghanaian multiple award winning rapper, Sarkodie announced his maiden edition of a virtual concert happening live on the Ceek.com on August 16.

The platform makes it easier for people to connect and relate with people around the world virtually at any time while they enjoy 360 videos in entertainment, education, healthcare training, sports, games and more.

He referred to the virtual concert as Sarkodie Black Love as Sarkodie and friends concert.

Although the announcement did not reveal the various artistes who would be performing alongside him. His fans have been  guessing.

However, in the wait of his online concert, King Sark through his countdown journey has been revealing to the public the artistes performing alongside him.

So far, the performing artistes include highlife legend Amakye Dede, Efya,  King Promise, Sista Afia and Kidi.

All the above mentioned artistes, in their unique ways have promoted the African values and the Ghanaian heritage through their styles of music since their exposure into the music industry.

Dan Amakye Dede as affectionately called, Abrantie Amakye Dede and “Iron Boy” by the public is one of Ghana’s first generation of high-life music legends in the Ghanaian music industry.

Amakye Dede started singing professionally in the year 1973 when he associated himself with a prominent singing band group in Ghana known as the Kumapim Royals.

He was the band’s composer as well as the vocalist. The band was headed by the legendary highlife singer, the late Akwasi Ampofo Agyei (AAA).

Whiles working with the Kumapim Royals, he supported the band and achieved hit songs like, Abebi Bewua Eso, Wanware Me A, Odo Mani Agyina and the seminal Ohohoo Batani.

Following his first hit “Jealousy go shame”, he founded his own band called, the Apollo High Kings, in 1980. Between the years, 1980 and 1990 ABrantie Amakye Dede had dominated the highlife scene with several hit songs.

Nonetheless, in this 21st century, the Highlife music legend continues to remain relevant with his songs like, Handkerchief, Seniwa, Brebrebe yi, Mensuro, Mabre, Broken Promises, Nsuo Amuna, Okyena sesei, among others.

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie bags home award at the just ended International Reggae & World Music Awards which took place on Sunday evening, May 16, 2021.

 

He won the award for the ‘Best Virtual Showcase/Concert of The Year’ with the 2020 ‘Black Love Virtual Concert’ powered by Ceek.

 

 ‘CEEK is a streaming platform for Virtual Events and Experiences featuring the biggest names in music, sports and entertainment.’

Ghana’s most celebrated rapper Michael Owusu Addo, also known professionally as Sarkodie has announced the release date for his new album dubbed, “No Pressure”.

Sarkodie posted an excerpt of the album’s video on his social media handles with a caption indicating the details of the new album, “No Pressure”.

He stated that, in collaboration with Ceek VR, his No Pressure album will be released  on July 09, 2021. The rapper also appreciated his fans, Sarknation for exercising patience.

 

Production credit for the album goes to Sarkodie and KJ Spio whereas cinematography and editing credit goes to Sam Mironko.
