Our Tech Spotlight This Monday Is None Other Than Aichatou Sar Evans

Aicha Evans is the CEO and a board member of an automotive vehicle technology company known as Zoox Inc.

She is a Senegalese-born, American-based computer engineer who spent most of her childhood years in France.

Miss Evans earned her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering at George Washington University in Washington D.C. in 1996.

Following her higher education, she served in various engineering positions at Rockwell Semiconductor, Conexant, and Skyworks Solutions located in the U.S. for barely 10 years managing wireless communications and devices groups. She was able to lead more than 7,000 employees.

In 2006, she was employed at a popularly known American technological company, Intel Corporation where she worked for 12 years. With the company, Aicha led a couple of wireless engineering projects technologies including, Bluetooth, Wireless LAN, XMM register, and 5G.  

Her achievements and remarkable work input got her upgraded to the position of Chief Strategy Officer in 2017, where she was responsible for assisting the C.E.O at the time in strategic initiatives to help execute developing projects for sustaining the company. 

She also helped in transforming the company’s long-term strategy from a PC-centric company to a data-centric company.

She got the opportunity to serve as an eye witness alleging unfair business practices and potential antitrust violations during the Federal Trade Commission case against Qualcomm. Joining Zoox Inc. as the CEO made her the first-ever black American female CEO of such a prestigious technological company.

Miss Evans voluntarily worked with non-profit organizations including the Anita Borg Institute for Women & Technology as a trustee and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group in addressing racial discrimination against Chinese Americans in these hard times stuck in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. she was also appointed as a supervisory board member of SAP SE, a German Multinational Software Corporation in 2017.

She was celebrated among the list of 100 people regarded as those changing businesses in the transportation sector positively by Business Insider, a U.S business and financial update website in 2019 and was recognized at the George Washington University Engineering Hall of Fame.

Rotimi and his wife Vanessa Mdee are expecting their 1st baby. Congratulations are in order!

Vanessa Mdee is a prolific Tanzanian songstress and media personality known by her stage name Vee Money.

Notable for her shows and hosting of public figures on television and radio, the successful Tanzanian singer and rapper making waves in the world of entertainment started as a Video Jockey at MTV for Tanzania. She became the first-ever MTV VJ from Tanzania following her win at the MTV Base VJ auditions in the nation’s capital, Dar es Salaam in 2007 when she was at the prime of her entertainment career.

A year later, she gained massive recognition globally and explored several opportunities around the African continent, U.S, and Brazil. She hosted multiple shows in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, and Angola. She was also made to co-host the Coca-Cola Chart Express show at the time. 

Her MTV engagement gave her the platform to work on the HIV project, Staying Alive Foundation under the auspices of MTV to promote a healthy sexual and reproductive lifestyle, especially among the youth, to prevent HIV and stay alive as a youth activist. Vanessa Mdee also joined the No More Malaria campaign intending to eradicate malaria deaths by 2015.

She is fashionable, and her unique personality and classy appearance earned her the MTV Africa Music Awards red carpet host for three consecutive seasons. In 2011, she began working with Choice FM, a branch in Tanzania where she hosted and interviewed artists under the show “Hitlist” and played Pop and R&B hits songs. She closely engaged world top entertainers including Rick Ross, K’ Naan, Ludacris, Stella Mwangi, Kelly Rowland, Dr. Sid, and a lot more in exclusive interviews on her show.

She also hosted the Hunters Oasis music festival, the Dume Challenge, and Epic Bongo Star Search. Alongside her entertainment shows were educative programs she hosted in collaboration with MTV‘s stay alive project and UNAIDS to create awareness on HIV and sensitize the youth on safe sex on her show, website, and addressing health-related issues like cervical cancer at conferences.

She led the Staying Alive campaign, which focused mainly on youth around the African continent in countries like Mali, South Africa, and Ethiopia. As part of her youth activist, which south to tackle issues relating to the youth, she joined forces with UN agencies focusing on youth to empower a lot of youth as a media personality at MTV. Her stay with MTV was worthwhile looking at the insightful and impactful initiatives she contributed to.

Officially, Vee Money commenced her music career in 2012 when she announced her collaboration with Tanzanian artiste, Ommy Dimples on the song “Me and You.” She then released her debut single and hit titled, Closer early the following year in January, which won her four Tanzanian music awards. The song was sold, air played massively, and topped many music charts for several weeks locally and internationally.

She continued to release her next song, come over, which successfully gained her continental feat and gave her the platform to mount music festival stages, including Nigeria’s annual music festival with top-notch acts like Burna Boy, Banky W, and many more. Since then, she has released back-to-back hits such as Hawajui, Duet Siri, “Nobody But Me,” “Never Again,” “Niroge,” and a lot more while signed under the BHitz Music Group Team. She released her 16-track album, “Money Mondays,” in January 2018 and was signed by universal music group in July 2018.

In 2019, Vanessa Mdee and popular Power TV Series actor Ola Rotimi Akinosho, also known by his character name “Dre,” disclosed to the public their romantic journey by posting pictures they took together on their various social media pages. They were then spotted together in programs and videos until December 2020. The duo got engaged privately. Ola Rotimi confirmed via his IG page in a post displaying the diamond ring placed on Vanessa Mdee’s annualry accompanied by a lengthy emotional caption. She added she said yes!

The couple have again announced to the world their journey of parenting as they expect a prince, which reveals the gender of the unborn baby. Vanessa Mdee and Rotimi posted baby bump photos on their IG page, respectively, confirming their bundle of joy. Congratulations to Vanessa Mdee and Ola Rotimi.

Reigning UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou has being honoured for his Humanitarian Awards.

Held on Monday, July 12, 2021 in the United States of America’s capital, New York, the award scheme which seeks to honour and celebrate the incredible impact of athletes, teams and professionals from the sport industry on their various societies through sporting activates, embarked on its seventh season of the celebration event.

Francis Ngannou, the only African to have been honoured alongside the other awardees for his zeal to make changes in the lives of young ones striving to achieve their aim in sports.

The heavyweight champion was awarded the Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award which is offered to individuals helping the less privileged through sports.

Looking at the awards aim and Ngannou’s current project in Cameroon, it is not surprising that Francis Ngannou has been honoured under such award category.

The Francis Ngannou foundation as part of the winners will receive its portion of ESPN $1 million grants channelled into to the charities of the nominees and winners.

Francis Ngannou’s Charity Organisation in his hometown in Cameroon helps in uplifting the dreams and aspirations of children through coaching in order for them to explore their various talents and take action that will make way for positive change in their lives.

 

According to the MMA legend, his gym which is currently in operation under the Francis Ngannou Foundation is now full of quality training accoutrements which will make it easy for the children to access it to develop themselves through the gradual training process.

The Francis Ngannou Foundation gym has registered more than 100 children and still counting.

 

From zero support to success and honours, Francis Ngannou has been using his personal life experience to inspire people particularly, the young and disadvantaged who are struggling to make their way through in life.

 

Following the back-to-back positive energy and recognition, the reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion admonished the young ones not to give up on their dreams because they have nothing or no support system. Adding that it’s okay to start with nothing but with perseverance, they’d get somewhere.

 

However, when the lucrative aspect surfaces, that’s when you realise you’ve got a lot of things to buy but that is not the ultimate aim, the aim is to be pushing more to do great things and that is to finish the dream you started.

 

He then expressed his joy of influencing the lives on young ones in Cameroon.

He stated: “A lot of children now in Cameroon, because of me, they have a dream. They say, ‘I will be a champion in MMA. I will do boxing like Francis….”

The seventh series of British dating reality shows, love island is here again!

Hitting back on your screens from Monday, June 28, 2021, the first group of contestants have made it to the Mallorca Villa in Majorca, Spain.

The villa has been renovated and beautifully furnished for the contestants to feel comfortable as they go through a journey full of excitements, flirts, mixed feelings, ‘disappointments’ and all the drama to eventually find true love.

Newly arrivals for this season’s Love Island are, eleven vibrant and energetic singletons comprising of six ladies and five gentlemen.

The six ladies are; FayeWinter, Sharon Gaffka, Liberty Poole, Shannon Singh, Kaz Kamwi, Chloe Burrows. The guys are; Aaron Francis, Hugo Hammond, Jake Cornish, Brad McClelland, Toby Aromolaran.

They’d get connected skilfully as they learn from each other, aside staying true to their emotions to connect with the right person, in the Villa.
