Let Girls Learn – First lady Michelle Obama visited Liberia in connection with ‘programming for ‘Let Girls Learn’, an initiative launched by Mrs. Obama and President Barack Obama last year’

Whilst there , Michelle Obama met with Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, students Hawa, Bendu and others…

Michelle Obama In Liberia

In a statement, the first lady said “I am thrilled that we are making these new investments in adolescent girls’ education and deepening our partnership with the Government of Liberia,”  “These girls are so bright and so eager to learn, and these investments will help them build the knowledge and skills they need to provide for themselves and their families and contribute fully to their communities and their country.”

‘Education for girls’ being Michelle Obama’s theme of her visit, we’re not surprise she visited Liberia, Liberia has really suffered in the past. First it was the civil wars between 1989 and 2003 and just when all seemed well, in 2014, the deadly Ebola swept the country killing almost 5000 people. This resulted in most schools shutting down for months! Therefore no education for the children (who are the future of every country)

Thank God things are back to normal…. FLOTUS’ visit, funding Education For Girls will make a huge difference in Liberia…Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.. remember ‘You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.’ Brigham Young  (No offence men)

Congratulations! Loretta Lynch has been confirmed as the new attorney general after waiting for 5 months with  56-43 votes. Loretta Lynch has become the first African-American female attorney general in U.S. history…

Congratulations History Maker!

US president Barack Obama nominates Loretta Lynch for state attorney, depicting a change in style and not a discontinuance in the law enforcement ideals the administration has sought after. Announcing the new nomination,

“Loretta might be the only lawyer in America who battles mobsters and drug lords and terrorists and still has the reputation for being a charming people person.” Obama

“I will work every day to safeguard our citizens, our liberties, our rights and this great nation..” Loretta Lynch

A federal judge has ordered a halt to President Obama’s amnesty orders Thousands of undocumented immigrants are set  to begin applying Wednesday for President Obama’s program to allow them to stay and work legally in the USA. This  first phase of Obama’s plan to protect up to 4 million undocumented immigrants from deportation is mired in uncertainty as congressional Republicans try to derail the program through legislation and state leaders try to block it in federal court.

The first of those programs was scheduled to start receiving applications on Wednesday. The immediate impact of the ruling is that up to 270,000 undocumented immigrants nationwide who came to the United States as children will not be able to apply for deportation protection under an expansion of an existing executive program. A larger new program is scheduled to begin in May….

On Nov. 20, last year,  President Obama created a new program for undocumented immigrants called Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA). It grants protected immigration status and work permits to the parents of a US citizen or lawful permanent resident. Estimates are that DAPA could benefit as many as 3.7 million individuals who are currently in the US without legal authorization.

It has been announced that King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has died aged 90. King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, had been king since 1995, his successor is his half-brother Crown Prince Salman.
