The Asamoah Gyan Foundation Gives 7,000 Dollars To Support A Young Ghanaian Boxer

All-time goal king of the Ghana national team, the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has lifted up high the dream of a 13-year-old Ghanaian boxer, Joseph Awinongya Jr. based in the United States with a donation of 7,000 US dollars equivalent to 40,915 Ghana cedi.

 

The offer was officially handed to the little boxer mid today, November 30, 2020 at a press conference led by the captain of the black stars under his Asamoah Gyan Foundation.

Gyan announced his support to the talented young boy on his official social media handles as well as stating that Awinongya is blessed with a great talent and supporting him to develop his skills is very important.

 

The young boxer is said to have been preparing for an upcoming boxing competition in the United States.

At his age, he has competed in several boxing matches of which he became the winner of a lot of titles such as three-time Silver Gloves National Champ, USA National Champion, two-time Jnr Olympic National Champion and more.

According to reports, the young boy’s achievements at this early age was fully supported by his father who has made it his key priority to nurture his son’s talents in order to reach greater heights in the world of sports with a lot of world titles in future as a professional boxer.

The young champion expressed his appreciation to the all-time leading goal scorer of the black stars of Ghana with joy and excitement on his Instagram page.

He also thanked all those who have contributed to achieving his dream as a professional boxer.

Asamoah Gyan Foundation was established in August 2011, with the aim of providing humanitarian supports to the needy especially, the youth and help solve societal problems through education, good water, sports opportunities and healthcare.

Since the establishment of the charity organisation by the general captain of the Ghana national team, the foundation has been working tirelessly in all the areas promised to achieve in their vision.

One of the most important and precious things anyone can do is ‘GIVE BACK’

The Asamoah Gyan Foundation has been the restoration of water pumping system in the hometown of the player in the Brong Ahafo Region, provision of healthcare equipment in various healthcare facilities in Accra and Kumasi, educational supports to brilliant but needy students, scholarships as well as built an ultra-modern AstroTurf for Accra Academy.

As the captain of the Black Stars, the soccer player has extended his football dribbling skills in many soccer clubs around the world including the Ghana premier league where he commenced his full-time soccer career at the Liberty Professionals.

Some of the clubs include, Udinese, Modena, Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain, Kayserispor, NorthEast United and his current club Legon Cities.

 

He contributed immensely with his phenomenal skills in the soccer fraternity to the above clubs he was signed on.

Gyan has achieved several honours and awards since he started playing soccer professionally. Contributing to the success of people and putting smiles on the face of the less privileged through his Asamoah Gyan foundation is just an amazing initiative.

WCW: UNFPA Ambassador Stephanie Linus Addresses African Ambassadors In The DRC, Donors, Regional Director of UNFPA…

As part of her commitment to raising awareness on maternal health issues, the UNFPA Regional Ambassador for West and Central Africa Stephanie Linus visited the Democratic Republic of Congo in commemoration of the International Day to End Obstetrical Fistula.
The theme of this year’s commemoration was tagged “hope, healing and dignity for all”, and it featured several activities aimed at giving hope to girls and women around Africa.
From 23rd to 25th May, Mrs. Linus participated in a span of activities which included the screening of her award winning movie ‘DRY’, a private luncheon with African Ambassadors in the DRC and a visit to women repaired of fistula at the Biamba Marie Motombo Hospital in Kinshasa.
While speaking to the Ambassadors, Mrs. Linus requested them to work through their governments to do more for the girl child with emphasis on education, ending child marriage, ending obstetric fistula, improving access to health care.
The over 300-persons audience at the private viewing of DRY consisted of African Ambassadors in the DRC, Donors, Regional Director of UNFPA for the East and Southern Africa Region, UN heads of Agencies and Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Ministers and High Ranking Government Officials, Young parliamentarians of DRC, Representatives of International and National NGOs, Members of the Civil Society and various media representatives.

During her address, Mrs Linus declared that the theme of the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula “hope, healing and dignity for all” is food for thought and that it is time to act and actively seek ways to do more to change unhealthy behaviors, to improve health systems, and improve human rights for all.
“Women should not die while giving life. Girls have rights that need to be respected-education, decent jobs, chose who to marry and when to have children and how many of them. Every woman and girl has a right to be treated with respect and dignity”, she stated.

She challenged the audience to constantly ask themselves the question – What is it that I can do more and do better?
Mrs. Linus also met young artists in the National Institute of Arts in Kinshasa whom she encouraged to look around, pick up the issues that are affecting the society and pass messages to end those ills through arts, music, movie and drama.

Stephanie Linus was named the UNFPA Regional Ambassador in March 2017 in recognition of her far reaching advocacy for the rights of girls and women.
As Regional Ambassador, Mrs. Linus will help advocate and raise awareness on maternal health issues across Africa, whilst encouraging policies and laws that protect the rights and dignity of the girl child.

Tanasha Donna spent time with the children, getting to know the children more about their ambitions and future plans. Whilst visiting the centre, she also got to know some the kids skills and talent through their artworks and more.

The Gere hit maker advised the youngsters to follow their dreams and also work hard, she added that with prayers everything is  impossible.

Gradually, she expanded the business and opened the Hamamat African Village which is widely loved by people.

People from all walks of life troop in to her village and visit the Hamamat African Village comprises of a health and wellness centre, spa services and relaxation.

People undergo relaxation with naturally African treatment at the Village. She also owns a shop of handmade baskets, local fabrics and handmade bags. She is creative and wears the African fabrics designed beautifully in the African way.

In addition to the above, Hamamat started her book reading project inspired by her kids. According to the model, her kids one day told her they wished they were beautiful as Cinderella which made her decide to write something about Children African beauty role models.

Diamond’s Brand New Hotel To Be Converted Into Hospital For Covid-19 Patients.

 

Diamond Platnumz is also willing to convert his hotel into an infirmary for persons infected with the virus.

The “bongo flava” artiste, told Wasafi FM during his interview that, he bought the hotel not long ago which is presently undergoing renovations but he doesn’t mind donating it to the government to fight the virus until it ends.

The donation was made on Saturday April 17, 2020 to the Ark Foundation, Ghana. This is a Non-Governmental Organisation located in Haatso, opposite Accra.

Ark Foundation in Ghana’s aim is to strengthening, protecting and supporting deprived, victims of domestic violence as well as advocating for their fundamental human rights.
