Ger Duany is an actor, model, filmmaker, based in the United States. He left his native home when things became apart, just like the meaning of his name – Ger – when things become apart.
Fate led him to his debut on the Hollywood silver screen where he played a refugee in the movie;”I (Heart) Huckabees.” Director David O. Russell said he wanted someone who had endured the real life experience of being a refugee to play the role. He later had a very important role in the 2011 drama Restless City.
In 2010, he produced and starred in the documentary Ger: To Be Separate, about his search for his family, after 18 years apart. He told the story of his long journey from a war child to a refugee to a Hollywood actor and a model, and the story of his return to South Sudan, to vote for the first time and celebrate the country’s newly acquired independence on July 9, 2011.
